SLASH YOUR STASH

The Happy Scrappers met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop this past Saturday.  First up, Chris held a Slash Your Stash session.  Above she instructs us on how to use some of our stash to make this creative block.

Above she helps us with the tricky marking and cutting of this block.  It is really unique in that you take two squares of fabric (any size you want but the two pieces should be similar in size) then you cut them in a special way, and end up with several half square triangles of various sizes that can be put together in interesting ways.

Mary G. put her block together in this way.

Lee Anne made this block. (I think I've been spending too much time with my great grandson because this block, in the black fabric, makes me think of Batman,)

Marti put her pieces together in this fashion.

I made my first block like Marti did and then I used various fabrics to make another block.  I was supposed to use a solid for the background and didn't have any in the stash I had brought that day, so this block looks a little busy to me.  But it was sure fun to make!

We had some show-n-tell.  Above, Yvonne shows us her latest finish.  This is a QAYG quilt and the picture does not do it justice.  Yvonne did an excellent job of making this quilt.

The back of Yvonne's quilt is as pretty as the front!

This is a close up of one of her blocks.  If you would like to make a quilt like this, there will be a QAYG class on Friday, Sept. 23 and you can learn how to make this quilt.  Call the shop to register and get a supply list.
Paula kept busy working on her latest project.

This is a close up of her blocks and the beautiful fabrics.

Paula also showed us a quilt that she just finished.  She said it is a free Moda pattern.

Here you can see the entire quilt.  I just love the fabrics she used in this quilt.

I forgot to get a picture of the block Adrienne made for the Slash Your Stash session.  Above she is working on a quilt she started several months ago.  I love the colors and she helped me make a block.  I think it is a great way to use some my stash! Thanks Adrienne.

We had a great time Saturday.  A special thanks to Chris for showing us how to make this special block and use up some of our stash.  Also, I hope everyone liked the Banana Bread.  It had chocolate chips in it!!!
