The fabric in the first picture is part of The Count line by Henry Glass & Co.

You will want to use these in your project because they are Glow In The Dark fabrics.  The line is Frightful & Delightful by Henry Glass.

Thinking about Christmas?  This new fabric is from the Tinsel Trees line by Henry Glass & Co.

THIS WILL INSPIRE YOU

Have you seen this new book!  Cathy and I got so excited when we were at the Attic Window Quilt Shop today and saw this book.  After looking through it, we asked Chris if we could host a BOM at the shop starting in September.  She said YES!

You are going to love all the new and different patterns in the book.  There are 50 block recipes, 7 sampler quilts, and endless possibilities.  I love the block above.

Each block is unique and you will be amazed at the techniques you will learn when making these blocks.

This is another one I had to show you.  The book is by Amy Gibson and has just been released at the book stores and quilt shops.

As stated in the book, you can get inspired, pair different blocks with one another.  Amy said that you should make each block different enough so that they don't compete with each other.

There are seven different ideas for setting your quilt blocks.  This quilt above is a king size quilt made with only six 12 1/2" blocks.  I can't wait to try this one.

Watch for the new Quilt Block Cookbook BOM that we plan to start on September 28.  You will need to register at the shop so that we will know how many kits to make.   Over the next few months we will discuss fabric choices and cost.  Hope to see you there!

WHAT IS DIFFICULT ABOUT PAPER PIECING?

Not much accomplished this weekend.  I finally completed this block.  Rolling Squares from the book Vintage Quilt Revival.  Most of the projects in this book are paper pieced.  I thought making this block would be a snap since you just sew on the lines.  Not!  I think I took the block apart a dozen time and started over.  First time the green squares were too large.  Then the blue flying geese were too small.  Ugh!  I printed at 100%, then at 101%, then at 102%.  I ended up making very small seams to achieve the 12 1/2" unfinished square.  I just hope my bee queen likes the colors I used.  Do you ever have this problem when paper piecing?

ARE YOU COLLECTING THESE PATTERNS?

Don't forget!  Row by Row has begun and above is the row that Chris designed for the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  If you are a quilter, you will want to participate in the Row by Row Experience.  It is taking place from June 21 through September 6.  You have all this time to collect the free patterns from the shops you visit.  Go here and click on the state where you live or where you will be traveling to see the listing of participating shops.  Be sure to check the shops’ websites or call ahead to verify their open hours.

When I recently visited the Attic Window Quilt Shop I saw a couple cute wool items that I wanted to show you.  Isn't this little needle case with the blue bird and flowers darling?

And check out this adorable little wool bird sitting on its nest.  There are an abundance of beautiful wools at the shop.  Be sure and check out the wool area on your next visit.

What's this?  The Bees In The Attic bee hive met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop on Wednesday.  Do you know how a Bee Hive works?  Twelve people get together to form a hive.  Each month one of them takes a turn being the Queen.  The Queen gets to choose the block from the book we have chosen to work from.  Then the next month the rest of the members of the hive create that block in the colors the Queen desires and presents that block to the queen on the following month.  I felt it necessary to explain this because some of the other people who come into the shop thought this group involved working on the computer and were confused about Instagram.  This came up after a previous post about the group.  I just wanted to let everyone know that there is no need for a computer to participate in a hive.  That being said, in the picture above Queen for this past month holds up a piece of flannel so the rest of the bees can place their blocks on it.  Kathy thought this would be helpful instead of laying them on the floor.  She was so right!
Above, Queen Caroll (me) displays her blocks from the members of the group.
This is a closeup of all the lovely blocks!  A special thank you to the group for my blocks.  I can't wait to put this quit together!
Above is Peggy who is Queen for this upcoming month.  Peggy gave us all some beautiful fabric to use when making her blocks.

TWO QUILTS TO SEE

When at the Attic Window Quilt Shop on Monday, Jill showed us the above quilt that her daughter Megan made.  This is the first quilt that Megan has quilted herself on their new quilting machine.
I wish you could see her quilting.  For a first timer, she sure does good work!

Also while at the shop on Monday, I got to see this stunning quilt that Sheryl made.  You may have seen it in progress over the past few months as Sheryl was worked on it.  Professional Quilter Carol Huster had just finished quilting this for Sheryl and brought it too her at the shop.  Carol does beautiful work.  If you are interested in having Carol quilt something for you, give the shop a call.

MAKE A BEACH BAG IN TWO HOURS

I took a Beach Bag class today at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Barb R. teaches us how to make this adorable bag.  My apologies! Barb's last name is Hassenrik, and does not begin with an R? So sorry Barb.

Sheryl took the class too.  Above she shows that she has a good start on her bag.  She said the bag is for her daughter who picked out the fabrics.  Wish I could have stayed longer and gotten a picture of her finished bag, but I had to scoot out due to a previous appointment.

I feel I have to post this picture since the ladies complained that they all had to have their picture on the blog and I should too.  How do you like my beach bag?

This is a closeup of my bag.  It really is a quick-to-make bag.  It took us just a little over two hours.  The nice thing was that everything that you need (except the outside fabric) is in a kit that I purchased at the shop.  The Fast & Easy Mesh Bag Kit includes mesh, lining fabric, webbing, Fast & Easy pattern and a handy little bag.
Barb is a new teacher at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  You won't be disappointed when you take one of her classes.  Today she was filled with helpful tips and techniques for making this beach bag.

A LITTLE SHOW 'N TELL AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

Look what Pat A. brought in to the Attic Window Quilt Shop!  Pat does beautiful work and these pillows are fantastic.  What great gifts they would make.  You can see them on display at the shop. They are each a This & That pattern.  One is Vintage Holiday and the other is Make Do & Mend.

Vickie S. had some quilts to show us last week when at the shop.  Vickie really does put out the work.  As I recall, she brought this fabric just a couple of days prior.  Wouldn't this make a great quilt for the coming holiday!

Vickie S. also showed us this quilt.  That bird fabric is adorable!

And Vickie showed us this finished table topper.  I'm sorry but I was unable to get the names of these patterns.  Great work Vickie!

NEW AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

I love clear bright fabrics (just saying) and these caught my eye when I walked into the Attic Window Quilt Shop earlier this week.  These fabrics are called Basically Patriotic by RJR fabrics.

The above fabrics are pretty cool too.  They are Stonehinge Gradations by Northcott.

I don't know if this is new at the shop or not, but the above fabric caught my eye as it sat on the check out counter.  It is I Spy In Amazon by Northcott.  I know a lot of you don't like bugs, but wouldn't be adorable in an I Spy quilt!

We had a teacher's meeting recently at the shop and though some of the teachers couldn't make it, I did want to show you a picture I took that night.  Left to right, Chris Brown (owner), Marilyn, Diana, Vickie S, Barb R. (new teacher), Jill, Vickie D., Lee Anne.  We are so lucky to have such a talented group of ladies who are willing to share techniques and skills with us.  Be sure and check the calendar on the sidebar for upcoming classes.

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT EPP?

I think I can speak for everyone when I say we had a wonderful and insightful session Tuesday when we attended Diana's English Paper Piecing class at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Vickie S. shows us progress on her project. I think she got a head start on all of us.

Above, Diana instructs the class on how to sew the pieces together.  Diana is a great teacher and patient with slow learners like me.

I think Diana might have had a hand in helping Vickie get started with her EPP.  Above is another piece that Vickie is working on.  Now mind you, these two pieces (the piece in the first picture and this one) will be going together into one large quilt.  I don't remember the pattern name, but I think it is in the book The New Hexagon from That Patchwork Place.

The class was quite large.  Above Diana gives instructions to just a few members of the group.

Julie B. has a good start on her project.  Look how she fussy cut each one of those pieces!  Wonderful.

Barb has her fabric sewn to the paper pieces.  Now she is ready to sew the pieces together.  Love that center fabric.

I think Kathy B. had a head start on her Lucy Boston blocks.

Above, Kathy shows us the connecting pieces for each block.

I think Kathy intends to incorporate these adorable fussy cut pieces into her Lucy Boston blocks too.

Thank you Diana for such an informative class.  Don't forget about Diana's Fold 'n Bloom class and the Fold 'n Wreath class coming this week.  You can read about then here.
